It’s the 10th of July today which means it’s Don’t Step on a Bee Day: let’s remember that the fate of the common bee lies in the balance. Scroll to the bottom for this week’s cashback on honey, available at Tesco, Sainsbury’s & Waitrose on the GreenJinn app.
Honey has been long known to give you a health boost and fight off pesky colds. If you’re a curry lover (like me!) you’ve probably consumed your fair share of turmeric too. Combining the two can create a POWERFUL health concoction.
Both turmeric and honey have their own health benefits, but combining these natural superfoods may take it to another level. South American Shamans have long referred to it as the most potent natural antibiotic known to man!
Honey and Turmeric may help treat:
- Coughs and colds
So what’s the secret? There’s an active ingredient in turmeric called ‘curcumin’. This chemical provides antioxidants, soothes inflammation and helps microbes.
Here’s how to make the most of your honey and turmeric mega-mix…
(stomach ulcers, gas troubles, indigestion, stomach upset, etc.)
Turmeric Honey And Ginger Drink
- Mix 2 tbsp of turmeric with 1/2 cup of honey
- Add 2 tbsp of grated ginger and mix
- Grate in some lemon zest
- Sprinkle with 2 pinches of grounded black pepper.
Why black pepper? Curcumin is doesn’t absorb into your blood very well. Black pepper contains pipeline. This is a natural substance that helps the absorption by 2000%! So don’t skip step 4… we’re watching you!
Try this once per day for the best results. Swap it for your morning latte. Your stomach will thank you.
Cough and Chest Infection
- Add 1/4 tbsp into a cup of boiling water
- Leave infuse to for 3-4mins
- Strain, then stir in honey and lemon juice
Drink 2 times per day. Let the curcumin in the mixture work its anti-bacterial and anti-viral magic. The honey in there will act as an anti-inflammatory and sooth your throat and chest.
Homemade Honey/Turmeric Spot Treatment
- Mix turmeric with splash of water until it turns to a pasta
- Add in a small amount of honey
- Apply to affected areas with cotton bud
Do this 1-2 times per day. Turmeric removes excess oil from the skin and stops bacteria growing. The honey will take away the redness since its an anti-inflammatory.
While honey & turmeric concoctions may help supplement your medical advice, you should always follow your doctor’s recommendations
