Recipe: Orange Chicken – Chinese Takeaway Style

Takes 45 minutes, enough for 2

INGREDIENTS

1 pack of skinned, deboned chicken thighs

Spring onions

Cashew nuts

Flawsome orange juice

Cornflour

Garlic powder

Soya sauce

Honey

Tomato ketchup

Chilli powder

Salt and pepper 

Olive oil

METHOD

1) Mix in a bowl 150g cornflour with 2 tablespoons of garlic powder and a good grinding of black pepper. Chop up your chicken thighs into 2cm chunks and toss in your seasoned flour.

2) Put a saucepan on a medium high heat and add olive oil. In batches, pan fry your chicken chunks on both sides until cooked through and crispy. Drain on kitchen paper while you make your sauce.

3) In a saucepan, add 150ml Flawsome orange juice, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon each of garlic powder, chilli powder, honey and tomato ketchup. Bring to a boil and reduce by half until slightly sticky.

4) Put your chicken pieces back into a frying pan on a medium heat and pour over your sauce. Stir until well coated, then spoon out onto your serving dish. Finish with a scattering of cashew nuts and sliced spring onion.
