A little on me!

Hi everyone!๐Ÿ‘‹

I am Jasmin and I am the Junior Full-Stack Developer here at GreenJinn.

3 things you need to know I love (beside my family/ boyfriend and dog Zelda) are; Writing novels, Japan and my favourite place to visit; Elba Island.

On GreenJinn

I have been working at GreenJinn for a little over two months now and I can confidently say that I am having the best work experience you could ask for.

The working environment and culture is great, which is something that iโ€™ve found hard to come by (especially in tech roles!)

The company shares my same vision on sustainability and environmental matters. At GreenJinn we are committed to sustainability across all teams in different areas and always looking at how we can improve. I feel lucky as it is not easy to find a company that shares your personal values.

What does a typical day look like?

I have the opportunity to work remotely (ideal for my dog!)

It is what you would expect for any developer working remotely; I have tasks to complete that are in line with my skills and expertise but also challenge me to help me grow in my role.

The development team carry out activities such as training on technologies and topics related to web and mobile development but we also concentrate on important areas such as psychological health and working dynamics in teams, so there is personal and group training continuously.

By working on many different projects and talking to members from other teams across the business, I have learnt – and continuing to learn in areas that go beyond my specific field of work. Other than the technology stack used in the company (React / Next, Node, MySQL, services by Aws) I’m learning about marketing, sales and mobile application development. ๐Ÿ˜

What is the team like?

I am just starting out in this career and industry and I consider myself lucky because I have a manager and a senior figure in our team who are very attentive and available to help. They remember what it is like to be a Junior developer and they know how to calibrate the difficulties of the role.

Unsurprisingly from the welcome I received when joining, the people from other teams are very helpful as well: they donโ€™t mind explaining their work to you with patience and kindness, even if it is just something you want to know out of personal curiosity.

With a few of us living in different countries, there is a level of us all being remote but there is a great harmony: team-building activities are organised every week (games, quizzes, even yoga!) so the feeling of distance is really reduced.๐Ÿ’š

How is GreenJinn different?

Something I have not experienced before in my previous roles is that at GreenJinn achievements are recognised and celebrated! Not just within our development team but with the whole team. It feels like one team working towards the same goal.

I was also very surprised to see that if a member of the development team has a problem everyone tries their best to rally together and help to find a solution. There is no; โ€œyour task, your problem” – so I really feel I am in a team that works together and that my contribution has a meaning and a value.
